Love's LostThis is the page that I honestly prayed we would never have a reason to add to our site. It's purpose is not to bring tears to your eyes, but to open your eyes to what rescue is about and how much it affects all of us in Rescue when tragedy strikes. We will not only use the page to say goodbye, but to tell you the honest reasons these Yorkies are no longer with us, what it has cost us, not just monetarily, but emotionally. I pray it will give you a better understanding of why we ask for your help and why we have to request a re-homing fee. Every dime received is spent to help these homeless little animals mend body and soul and to find the lives God intended for them. These are the ones for whom He had another plan.

 Mia Bella...
Somewhere in her precious two years of life Mia was abused. Her adoptive parents tried everything possible to save her. Mia left us in the morning on April 7, 2008, gently held in the arms of her adoptive Mom. Tears flowed and after eight months of round-the-clock care; Mia's tiny body finally found rest.
At first Mia was diagnosed with MVD. Mia continued from day one on several diet's that should have saved her, including contacting Dr. Jean Dodds when Jean was in South Africa. Her adoptive parents spent numerous hours researching Mia's condition.
When her condition didn't improve, Mia's adoptive parents did not give up on her and sought out a neurologist. Mia saw the number one Neurologist in the United States, coupled with a fantastic Ophthalmologist, and three different Veterinarians. An MRI showed that her problems were NOT caused by MVD, but instead caused by injury to her brain, the left side contained a water filled cyst and the right side was inflamed. It was also a shock to discover that three of her teeth were missing.
With everyone hoping and praying that she would get better; Mia underwent two rounds of chemotherapy, but not to treat cancer. They type of chemo was the last chance she had, if any, at stopping the swelling in little Miss Mia Bella's brain. Unfortunately, it was too late, Mia Bella had suffered severe damage to her brain and there was no possible way she could get better. The ophthalmologist likened her brain injuries to shaken baby syndrome.
The emotional toll on her adoptive parents, who adopted Mia after fostering her, is uncalculable. Medical bills paid by them we in excess of $4,500.
Mia was so very special - she can never be forgotten. In tribute to Mia Bella, please rescue those that have been left behind and need loving homes, please do not purchase puppies from backyard breeders and puppy mills. Please give generously to Yorkie Rescue Colorado so that all of the Yorkies can have a loving home.
